A Daily Herald photographer and videographer were among the media who had been invited by the Blackhawks to document the Stanley Cup's visit to Elk Grove Village on Saturday with team President John McDonough, who lives in Elk Grove.

The press release from the team included notification of a meeting at village hall. But shortly after the photographer and videographer arrived inside the village hall meeting room to document the event, they were told by Elk Grove police that they had to leave.

They were told it was a private party. Elk Grove Village President Craig Johnson was joined at the meeting by other village officials and nearby mayors, including the leaders of Arlington Heights, Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates.
