The Cubs today announced two front office hires for newly created positions within the organization. Jahaan Blake has been hired as the club's director of fan experiences and Kevin Saghy has been named the club's public relations and marketing specialist.
Blake joins the Cubs with eight years of major league experience within the Boston Red Sox (2002-'08) and Los Angeles Dodgers (2009) organizations, most recently serving as Los Angeles' Director of Fan Hospitality. Blake began her career in baseball as one of 25 original Red Sox ambassadors selected from an applicant pool of 4,000 candidates to serve as caretakers of the fan experience at Fenway Park.
With the Cubs, Blake will be responsible for creating and maintaining an outstanding fan experience for visitors to Wrigley Field and for those interacting with the Chicago Cubs through all fan forums. She will also oversee a team of proactive fan service representatives responsible for monitoring the Wrigley Field experience before, during and after games and responding to fan requests for information or suggestions.
Blake received her bachelor's degree from American International College in 2001 and her master's degree in integrated marketing communication from Emerson College in 2003.
Saghy joins the Cubs after spending the last three years as an account executive at Ketchum, a worldwide public relations, marketing and corporate communications agency with an office located in Chicago.
With the Cubs, Saghy will be responsible for monitoring and creating exposure for the marketing, community affairs and additional business efforts of the Cubs. He will work closely with the organization's corporate and community partners to enhance awareness of the Cubs brand, the partners' brands and their collaborative efforts.
Saghy graduated with a bachelor's degree in public relations from Ohio Northern University in 2007. He was recently named the Public Relations Society of America's Chicago 2009 Young Professional of the Year.
