A 63-year-old Gurnee-area real estate agent is charged with trying to sexually abuse the child of one of his Libertyville clients, Lake County prosecutors said Tuesday.

Peter M. Glover, of the 1400 block of Knottingham Drive in Gurnee, was arrested by Libertyville police on Nov. 15 and charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a class 2 felony, said Assistant State's Attorney Stephen Scheller.

If found guilty of the charges, Glover could spend up to 7 years behind bars, Scheller said.

Glover was in Libertyville putting up real estate for-sale signs at the home of one of his clients in preparation for an open house when the attack occurred, Scheller said.

The client, who was at the home with her 7-year-old son, left the child alone with Glover for a moment to run down stairs to get something, Scheller said. Glover then hugged the boy and started to rub up against him from behind, Scheller said.

The client returned to the room, saw what happened, grabbed the child and called police, Scheller said.

Glover told police he was not doing anything wrong and was trying to be friendly with the boy by giving him a hug, Scheller said.

Glover was freed after posting the required 10 percent of the $100,000 bond, Scheller said. He is due back in court on Dec. 21.
