Spirit of Life Chorus in concert today

The Spirit of Life Chorus will present a free concert at 4 p.m. today, May 3, at Faith Lutheran Church, 431 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights. The Spirit of Life Chorus is 100-plus voices in a ecumenical Christian concert chorus performing in church sanctuaries and auditoriums throughout northern Illinois. Eat pancakes; help local firefighters

The Prospect Heights Lions club and the Prospect Heights Fire Department is holding its pancake breakfast 8 a.m.-1 p.m. today, May 3, at the Prospect Heights Fire House, 10 E. Camp McDonald Road, Prospect Heights. Proceeds will help the Prospect Heights Fire Protection District buy a rescue boat. Also at the event: a silent auction for a child's free ride on a fire truck to school; free hearing exams. Cost: $6 adults; $5 children 3-12; and free children under 3. There is a $1 discount per ticket when you bring three cans of food.

Park district offers subsidized fees

The Arlington Heights Park District has set up a scholarship program to subsidize program fees for families unable to pay the full fee at this time. People can register for up to two classes each season, including athletics, Day Camps, CAP, swimming lessons and more. Each member of the household also will receive a free pass to any park district swimming pool.

This program is open to any resident of Arlington Heights Park District who may need assistance. To apply, request a Scholarship Information sheet from the Village of Arlington Heights, 33 S. Arlington Heights Road. Talk with the park district about what information is required, at (847) 577-3009.
