The Chicago Cubs have hired Mark Riggins as the club's minor league pitching coordinator.
Riggins, 50, has worked within the St. Louis Cardinals organization for the past 29 years. He was as the organization's minor league pitching coordinator for the past 12 seasons. He will replace Alan Dunn, who left the Cubs to take over as bullpen coach with the Baltimore Orioles.
"We are very lucky to have Mark Riggins join the organization," said Oneri Fleita, vice president of player personnel. "One constant of our farm system is that we have always had very impressive pitching coordinators to oversee the progress of our players. With Rick's strong knowledge of the game and vast experience that trend will continue."
