The head of the Republican ticket won't be making a big state party fundraiser next month with former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
U.S. Rep. Mark Kirk of Highland Park doesn't plan to attend Palin's $500-a-seat fundraiser May 12 at the Westin O'Hare in Rosemont because the House is scheduled to be in session, according to a campaign spokeswoman.
Kirk is running for Senate and took some heat in the GOP primary for seeking support from Palin when he wasn't enthusiastic about Arizona Sen. John McCain's choice of her as his vice presidential candidate in 2008.
Palin didn't end up endorsing in the recent Republican primary for Senate that Kirk won handily.
