For the past few weeks, Tuesdays in Mount Prospect mean only one thing: Lee DeWyze.
To urge support for their hometown "American Idol" finalist, hundreds of Prospect High School students pulled out their "Vote for Lee" T-shirts today while business owners all over town flashed DeWyze's name on their electronic signs. DeWyze attended Prospect High School.
Want a shirt? Prospect High School is selling them basically for cost, with proceeds going to the Buddy Foundation, the no-kill animal shelter in Arlington Heights.
Last week the Mount Prospect native sailed through to the Top 10, ensuring his spot on this summer's tour.
Last week, three of the four judges praised DeWyze's cover of the Box Tops "The Letter." While Simon Cowell was the lone dissenting voice, both Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson agreed that DeWyze raised the bar for himself.
DeWyze will have to go even higher tonight as the top 10 take on R&B and soul with crooner Usher serving as the guest mentor.
One American Idol contestant will be voted off the show on Wednesday.
