A teenage pedestrian was killed Wednesday evening after being struck by an eastbound Metra train at a Barrington crossing.

ABC 7 Chicago identified the victim as 16-year-old Kevin Conway of Barrington.

The accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at Hillside Avenue.

Barrington-Inverness police said trains going in both directions were held briefly while an investigation was held. Westbound trains were allowed to resume travel by 6 p.m., according to police.

While no details could be provided, officials with Metra said train service was stopped in the Barrington area about 5:35 p.m. Wednesday.
