Grayslake Norths girls basketball team came out on fire and never cooled off against visiting Johnsburg on Tuesday night.
The Knights remained undefeated with a 61-34 win in Fox Valley Fox Division action.
Brittney Thibeaux scored 10 of her game-best 15 points in the opening quarter, Emily Dugan drained a pair of 3-pointers, and Kendall Detweiler also hit a 3, helping the hosts build a 21-8 lead.
Grayslake North (9-0, 3-0) also received 14 points from Joanna Guhl, 12 from Dugan and 11 from Detweiler. Dugan and Detweiler made four and three 3-pointers, respectively.
Grayslake Central 52, Woodstock 42: Carson Sparkman scored a career-high 15 points for the visiting Rams, who led the Fox Valley Fox game 46-19 after three quarters.
Morgan Dahlstrom added 12 points for Grayslake Central (6-4, 2-0). Lauren Spalding had 9 points thanks to a trio of 3-pointers.
Vernon Hills 66, Grant 43: This time, cats defeated the dogs, as the Cougars captured the North Suburban Prairie contest against the Bulldogs, hitting double-digit wins and remaining undefeated.
Vernon Hills (10-0, 4-0) was led by Sydney Smith, who scored a season-high 20 points. Meri Bennett-Swanson had 18 and Brie Bahlmann added 12.
Grant (5-7, 2-2), which dropped its third in a row, received 11 points from Kaitlyn Wold. Jasmine Sangster had 8.
Antioch 54, Round Lake 24: The visiting Sequoits won their fourth in a row, improving to 8-3 and 4-0 in the North Suburban Prairie.
Antioch scored the first 13 points of the game, led by Megan Borries, who scored a game-high 17 points. Paige Gallimore added 8 points.
Round Lake (0-8, 0-4) was led by Justice Clark who had 7 points. Raven Nicoline added 5 points.
Libertyville 44, Mundelein 42: Sinking key free throws made the difference, as the Wildcats defeated the Mustangs in the North Suburban Lake game.
It was good to see our kids step up at the free-throw line in crunchtime, Wildcats coach Greg Pedersen said of Dana Kym and Haley Hoeksel, who shot 4 of 4 and 2 of 2, respectively, from the stripe in the fourth quarter. Getting a pressure win like this is a good step for our team.
Libertyville (3-7, 2-2) was led by Kym, who scored 16 points. Olivia Mayer chipped in 11, and Hoeksel added 10.
Natalie Busscher and Becca Woit scored 11 points apiece for the Mustangs (2-7, 2-2).
Stevenson 52, Lake Forest 34: The Patriots got their fifth consecutive win, led by Sophia Way, who scored a career-high 18 points, including four 3-pointers.
Melanie Despinich added 10 for Stevenson (5-4, 2-1).
