A private helicopter carrying two passengers crashed early Monday evening at the Schaumburg Airport with no injuries reported.

At 5:44 p.m. rescue crews were dispatched to the airport but determined there were no injuries and no fire or fuel leaks, according to the Schaumburg Police Department.

The privately owned helicopter was hovering several feet above a taxiway, when its tail rotor section made contact with the ground, according to police. The aircraft was damaged in the crash.

The Illinois State Police are investigating the incident, and the Federal Aviation Administration has been notified.
