An Oak Park man who worked as a mail carrier in Buffalo Grove was found dead in his garage Thursday morning, according to police.

Pedro Gurrola Jr., 41, was found dead and bleeding from the head at approximately 10 a.m. Thursday.

Oak Park police responded to a 911 call after Gurolla's wife found him in the garage behind their home on the 800 block of South East Avenue, according to police.

Police believe the incident occurred at around 6:45 a.m. when Gurrola was leaving for work.

Gurrola's car, a red or maroon 1997 four-door Chevrolet Lumina with Illinois license plate 8479360, was also reported missing from the garage, according to police.

Gurolla has been a U.S. Postal Service letter carrier in Buffalo Grove for about seven years, according to a USPS spokesman.

There were no suspects in the case as of Thursday night, but police are conducting an investigation and are following up on several leads.

An autopsy is scheduled for this morning, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
