Film Noir Classic Collection, Vol. 5

Film noir was a film style with its roots in the 1930s. The films featured dark or dim lighting to set a mood for the story's themes and characters. Mysteries were commonly done as film noir during that era, as were gangster tales. Femme fatales often played key roles.

Warner Home Video began their film noir collections in 2004. The latest collection features eight suspense thrillers that have been digitally remastered. They are: "Cornered," "Desperate," "The Phenix City Story," "Dial 1119," "Crime in the Streets," "Armored Car Robbery," "Deadline At Dawn" and "Backfire."

The collection is available for $49.92 retail.

"8: The Mormon Proposition"

In May of 2008, the California Supreme Court ruled that the ban on same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. Many couples who had been together for quite some time began getting married. This upset the leaders of the Mormon church who preach that marriage is between a man and a woman. They began to raise millions of dollars to get a measure on the ballot so voters could put the ban on same-sex marriages back into law. Proposition 8 passed.

The documentary shows what happened during the process, and will have you rethinking what the real meaning of family values is.

"The Lucy Show: Seasons One and Two"

Lucille Ball became a huge television star with the "I Love Lucy Show." After her divorce from Desi Arnaz she created her own TV show, in which she played recently widowed Lucy Carmichael who lives with her friend Vivian Bagley (Vivian Vance) and lots of children. Vivian and Lucy were put in a variety of predicaments that were very funny. The show was a hit.

Season One includes 30 black and white episodes on four discs, while Season Two includes 28 episodes in color. There are bonus features that include interviews, commercials, production notes, photo galleries, biographies and more.

"Saturday Night Live: The Best of Will Ferrell"

The very funny Will Ferrell spent seven years on "Saturday Night Live" and created some memorable characters. Along with the funny sketches, the extras include audition footage, dress sketches, TV appearances with Conan O'Brien, outtakes, a still gallery and more.
