The Illinois Racing Board has granted Arlington Park a license to open a second Trackside wagering operation in Waukegan.

The new operation will be located within Sundance Saloon, 300 Lakehurst Road, a country and western establishment that now mix thoroughbred and harness racing seven days and seven nights a week with its dancing, music and saloon entertainment.

It will attempt to fill the void left when Dairyland Greyhound Park ceased simulcast betting at the end of last year.

"I've been working on making this happen for two years," said Sundance owner Art Lake. "This is a great opportunity to see additional patronage at Sundance as well as increasing revenue for the City of Waukegan."

The new operation is slated to open early summer 2010.

Sundance Saloon is located on the west side of Fountain Square, at the corner of Route 120 and Lakehurst Road (one half mile off Interstate 94).

About 2,500 square feet of the saloon will be dedicated for a teletheater for wagering on horse races on races from Arlington Park and all Illinois racetracks, Churchill Downs Simulcast Network and other major racetracks. It also will feature over 80 plasma and LCD television monitors and 15 betting machines.
