An 18-year-old man was stabbed after trying to intervene in a domestic dispute at an Ingleside home Sunday afternoon, and was airlifted to Advocate Condell Hospital in Libertyville where he is now in intensive care, police said.

Lake County Sheriff's Lt. John Crilly said officers responded to a call shortly before 1:30 p.m. about an incident on the 2600 block of West Route 134 in Ingelside.

Arriving on the scene, officers learned that the 18-year-old had been stabbed in the abdomen by a 43-year-old male resident of the home when the victim tried to get in the middle of a fight between the older man and a female resident of the home.

The 18-year-old, who underwent surgery Sunday afternoon, is not a resident of the home, but was visiting the female resident's son, Crilly said.

The 43-year-old man was placed into custody, but he has not yet been charged.

The incident remains under investigation.
