A Mundelein man faces up to seven years in prison after admitting Friday he molested a 16-year-old girl.

Arturo Garcia-Ramos, 33, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse during a hearing before Lake County Circuit Judge Fred Foreman.

Assistant State's Attorney Ari Fisz said the girl stayed overnight at Garcia-Ramos' residence in the 300 block of N. Pershing Avenue on the night of Aug 10, 2008. The girl, who Fisz said was going to care for Garcia-Ramos' children the next day, slept on a couch on the first floor of the residence. Around 6 a.m. on Aug. 11, the girl awoke to find Garica-Ramos standing next to the couch and molesting her.

She told her father about the attack a few weeks later, Fisz said, and her father contacted Mundelein police.

Garica-Ramos was arrested Sept. 25 and was freed from custody after posting $2,000 bond.

After accepting the guilty plea, Foreman told Garcia-Ramos to return to court Feb. 24 for the scheduling of a sentencing date.
