'24' in Manhattan

Kiefer Sutherland returns as Jack Bauer for the eighth season of "24" at 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, on Fox WFLD Channel 32. This year, it's set in New York City, and Katee Sackhoff joins the cast. Fox also launches the new action series "Human Target," with Chicago's own Chi McBride, at 7 p.m. Sunday on Channel 32.

Ghost payrolling

A&E premieres the new Chicago-area series "Paranormal Cops" at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19. It focuses on police officers by day who moonlight studying "paranormal" phenomena by night - and, yes, it's supposed to be a factual "real life" drama.

Women's health

Former CNN news anchor Paula Zahn plays host to the new four-part miniseries "Health Secrets: What Every Woman Should Know," debuting at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, on WTTW Channel 11, where it was shot at the public television station's North Side Chicago studios.

'3' and out

It's easily the worst entry in the "Spider-Man" franchise, and now it looks like Tobey Maguire's swan song as Peter Parker. It's "Spider-Man 3," and it finds the writers piling on the villains and the plot lines to the point of incomprehensibility. It's at 7 p.m. today on FX.
