The Bears elevated QB Brett Basanez and CB Woodny Turenne to the active roster from the practice squad.
Basanez has spent the entire regular season on the Bears practice squad after completing 15 of 26 passes for 221 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in the preseason. The Northwestern product originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent of the Carolina Panthers in 2006.
He spent the first 12 weeks of the 2006 season on the practice squad before being elevated to the active roster on Dec. 9. The Arlington Heights native and St. Viator standout appeared in one contest in 2006 completing six of 11 passes for 56 yards and an interception. Basanez missed the 2007 regular season after suffering a wrist injury in the preseason and was on the Panthers practice squad for the entire 2008 season.
Turenne, an undrafted free agent out of Louisville, had three tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass break up in four preseason contests. In two seasons at Louisville, Turenne played in 21 contests (18 starts) recording 78 tackles, six interceptions, five pass break ups and one tackle for a loss.
