KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- A 30-year-old man accused of killing a Kalamazoo couple in a dispute over a puppy has been arraigned on murder charges. The couple's 9-year-old daughter escaped physical harm.
Authorities say Christopher L. White moved from Chicago to Kalamazoo two months ago. He was arraigned Tuesday on open murder, assault and firearms charges. A preliminary examination is planned Jan. 5.
Kalamazoo police found 27-year-old Tamika Morris and 29-year-old Corey D. Johnson dead in their apartment last Wednesday. Their 9-year-old daughter was home at the time and now is living with relatives.
Police tell the Kalamazoo Gazette that White grew up with Morris in Chicago.
