An Elgin sex offender is being sued by the parents of a teenage girl he admitted to molesting.

The lawsuit against 67-year-old Salvador Camacho was filed Monday in Kane County Circuit Court and seeks more than $50,000 in damages.

Camacho pleaded guilty in August to charges he molested two girls, who were between the ages of 13 and 16, at his residence on the 100 block of Westgate Drive.

According to the lawsuit, one of Camacho's victims continues to "suffer extreme mental anguish and physical pain" as a result of his "unwanted and unpermitted, harmful and offensive, sexual contact."

After his conviction, Camacho was sentenced to four years of probation and ordered to register as a sex offender. But his attorney has said he pleaded guilty only to avoid the possibility of prison, which could have amounted to a "death sentence" for Camacho because of health problems.

Camacho was arrested last May and later indicted on 24 counts of felony charges stemming from incidents between March 2005 and April 2008. He pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

The lawsuit goes before Judge Robert Spence on Feb. 18, 2010.
