A Grayslake man faces up to three years in prison after admitting Wednesday he had sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Billyjack M. Tate, 26, pleaded guilty to criminal sexual abuse during a hearing before Circuit Judge Fred Foreman.

Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Reginald Matthews said Tate, of the 18000 block of West Main Street, was a guest at the victim's home in Grayslake on May 31.

The older brother of the victim's girlfriend told police he saw Tate and the victim leaving a bedroom on an upper floor of the house, Matthews said.

In separate interviews at the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center, Tate and the girl admitted they had sex that night.

Tate was originally charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, but Matthews said he agreed to reduce the charge in exchange for Tate's guilty plea.

Foreman scheduled a sentencing hearing for Dec. 10.
