Aurora police are holding two people in connection with a Sunday night hit-and-run accident that killed a 45-year-old Aurora woman.

It happened about 9:30 p.m. at Route 31 and Prairie Street near downtown.

The woman, Patty S. Kuntz of the 200 block of Prairie Street, was unconscious, not breathing and had massive injuries, authorities said.

Police said they received a call about 11:15 p.m. from a 24-year-old North Chicago man saying he believed he had struck a woman while driving in Aurora. Police picked him up at his residence and also found the car they believe he was driving at the time.

The man and his passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Waukegan, are being held at the Aurora police station. No charges have been filed.

An autopsy on the victim is pending by the Kane County coroner's office.
