A Wadsworth man pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges he raped 16-year-old girl.

Barnell Love, 29, faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of criminal sexual assault.

Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Brett Henne said Love called the girl, who lives in Kenosha and is a regular baby sitter for his family, to come to his house in the 39000 block of Dilley's Road on June 17.

When the girl arrived, she found out that Love's children were in Florida with their mother and she decided to stay and watch television.

The girl fell asleep on Love's couch, Henne said, and he woke her and told her to go sleep in his bed.

The girl did so, Henne said, and woke up to discover Love was having sex with her.

She ran from the bedroom and locked herself in the bathroom until Love left for work the next morning, Henne said.

She told a friend what had happened and the friend called police, Henne said.

Lake County sheriff's detectives found a text message from Love on the girl's telephone in which he makes reference to the incident, Henne said.

Associate Judge George Bridges scheduled a trial of the case for Sept. 21 and told Love to appear in court again Aug. 14.
