Crash investigation continues:

West Chicago police Tuesday were trying to determine what caused a car to crash into the rear of a parked semitrailer truck on Monday afternoon. The truck was parked legally on the shoulder of eastbound North Avenue, just east of Prince Crossing Road, when it was struck about 1:40 p.m. by a Mercedes-Benz. The unidentified woman who was driving the car was taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield with serious but not life-threatening injuries, authorities said. No one was inside the truck at the time of the crash. Eastbound North Avenue was closed for about 30 minutes while emergency crews extracted the motorist.

Sheriff elected to post:

DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba will be sworn in today as president of the National Sheriff's Association. The group represents 3,000 sheriffs nationwide. The ceremony is being held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

After the storm:

Today is the last day Lombard's Public Works Department will be picking up brush in response to the June 19 storm. The bundles of brush must not weigh more than 50 pounds and must be no more than 6 feet long and 18 inches in diameter. Yard waste stickers are not needed for properly bundled brush. After today, any brush put on the parkway must be bundled for Waste Management and will be picked up on the regular collection day.
