Schaumburg police are investigating a one-car crash that killed its driver early Wednesday morning.

The driver, Kelly D. Rossi, 32, of Schaumburg was pronounced dead at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.

Police and paramedics were called to the 800 block of South Salem Drive, just south of Pinehurst Lane, at 2:17 a.m.

The early investigation indicates that Rossi was driving a 2008 Nissan south on Salem Drive when it left the roadway and struck a parkway tree on the west side of the road.

Rossi, who was taken to Alexian Brothers by Schaumburg paramedics, was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the accident to call the police department's traffic crash reconstruction team at (847) 882-3534.
