This year news media are spending a lot of time covering local elections. I commend them for doing so. Local government plays an important role in our everyday lives. Thus, the people we elect to local office will have a voice on issues like public safety and human services.

Your vote for village president and trustees will matter. And this April you have a real choice to make. You can re-elect a village president and trustees who will fight for public safety, human services and protect our local environment.

Village President Bill Sarto and Trustee Linda Ramirez-Sliwinski have accomplished great things for Carpentersville despite the recent economic downturn. Over the last four years he has presided over the rebuilding of the Main Street Bridge, the streamlining of the village's development standards and an aggressive capital plan. Throughout this period Carpentersville's financial situation has improved and is now stable. Carpentersville is in the black.

Sarto and Ramirez-Sliwinski can continue to accomplish great things for Carpentersville if you send them back to the village board. I also urge you to consider a vote for Joseph R. Haimann and Debra K. Lowen for village trustee.
