Two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries Wednesday afternoon after a car crashed into a Christian bookstore at Rand and Arlington Heights roads in Arlington Heights, authorities said.

The accident occurred about a week after another vehicle hit the UPS Store in the same plaza.

Around 1:10 p.m. Wednesday, a car was crossing Rand Road to get to the shopping plaza on the south side of the road when a minivan headed east on Rand hit the car, causing it to spin out and crash into the bookstore.

The bookstore sustained minor damage and was open again by Wednesday evening; both vehicles were towed from the scene.

One of the drivers was cited for failure to obey a traffic signal, police said.

On Feb. 23, an SUV crashed through the front of the UPS Store at 309 Rand Road. Police blamed the accident on a driver hitting the gas instead of the brake. The store reopened the next day.
