Fiction Family is Jon Foreman of sorta-Christian rockers Switchfoot and Sean Watkins of on-hiatus newgrass sensation Nickel Creek. The duo's self-titled debut of hooky folk-pop hits stores on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Facts: 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, at The Union at North Central College, 129 W. Benton Ave., Naperville. $12. (630) 637-5417 or nccunion.com.

Mega Winterfest 2009

Great American Country TV personality Storme Warren hosts this two-day festival, Pheasant Run's latest bid to become the 'burbs' country music epicenter. Friday's lineup includes Jason Aldean, Kellie Pickler and Julianne Hough, while Saturday features LeAnn Rimes, Phil Vassar and Darryl Worley.

Facts: 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16, and 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, at Pheasant Run Mega Center, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles. $49-$89; two day pass $79-$159. (312) 559-1212 or winterfestnow.com.

The Killers

Those who hated the controversial rootsy turn The Killers took on their second album should be pleased with their recent "Day & Age," which harks back to the new wave glitz of the Las Vegas act's popular 2004 debut. Be sure to get to this show in time for the lush electronic/shoegaze textures of opener M83.

Facts: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, at UIC Pavilion, 525 S. Racine Ave., Chicago. $40.50-$50/sold out. (312) 559-1212 or uicpavilion.com.
