A Schaumburg man was sentenced to 18 months on probation Tuesday after he admitted soliciting an undercover Lake County police officer for sex.

Srinivasulu Viswanadham, 24, pleaded guilty to indecent solicitation of a minor during a hearing before Associate Judge Christopher Stride,

Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Mary Stanton said Viswanadham, of 2100 Hassell Road, Apt. 102, was exchanging messages in an Internet chat room Aug. 4 with someone he thought was a 15-year-old girl.

The girl was actually a Lake County sheriff's detective, who agreed to meet with Viswanadham that day so they could go to a movie and then have sex.

The detective directed Viswanadham to a parking lot in unincorporated Lake County near Grayslake, then arrested him when Viswanadham showed up a few hours later.

In accepting the guilty plea, Stride ordered Viswanadham to complete sex offender treatment and to pay a $700 fine.

Stride also ordered Viswanadham to surrender to police his lap top computer and the 2002 Honda Accord he drove to the meeting with the detective.
