The Bulls recently re-signed Demetris Nichols to a one-year, partially-guaranteed contract. The 6-foot-8 shooting guard from Syracuse appeared in 11 games for the Bulls last season after being claimed off waivers from Cleveland on Dec. 7.

Nichols was the team's second-leading scorer at the Orlando summer league in July, averaging 13.6 points. With Nichols on board, the Bulls have 12 players under contract for next season, with only restricted free agent Ben Gordon still in limbo.

During a celebrity bowling event in New York last week, Gordon suggested he's played his last game for the Bulls. But so far there is no evidence that a sign-and-trade deal with another team is imminent or that Gordon is ready to leave the NBA to join an overseas club.

Preseason stop added: A trip to Fort Wayne, Ind., awaits the Bulls during preseason. They will face the Indiana Pacers at Memorial Coliseum on Friday, Oct. 10.

The Bulls also announced that tickets for the Oct. 17 preseason contest in Champaign against the Utah Jazz will go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com. That game will feature a homecoming for Jazz guard Deron Williams, the former Illini star.

The rest of the Bulls' preseason slate includes home games against Dallas on Oct. 9, Minnesota on Oct. 14, Utah on Oct. 18 and Milwaukee on Oct. 24. The Bulls will play at Dallas on Oct. 21 and Minnesota on Oct. 22.

Bulls go golfing: The Bulls will host a charity golf outing Sunday at White Pines Golf Club in Bensenville. Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Tyrus Thomas and new coach Vinny Del Negro are among those expected to attend. For more information, contact the Bulls at (312) 455-4122.
