Volunteer for mentoring

Volunteers are needed for Mental Health Services, DuPage County Health department's Volunteer Program, with times available weekdays, evenings and some weekends to interact with clients in group settings or one-on-one mentoring for socialization activities. Audition to be a Senior Idol

Senior Idol auditions are being planned by appointment Sept. 3 and 4 at the Senior Lifestyle Expo at the Drury Lane Theatre and Conference Center, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace. The event is sponsored by the Northeastern Area Agency on Aging and offers cash prizes up to $100 and the chance to perform on the Drury Lane main stage and title of Senior Idol. The contest is for amateurs, individuals and groups up to four members. Deadline for entries is Aug. 16 or until all slots are full. Applicants must be 60 years or older by Sept. 4. Those auditioning may include singers, improv, stand-up comics, mime and magicians and other performers. The entry fee is $10 per person or $20 for groups and is nonrefundable. Symphony will hold auditions

The DuPage Symphony is seeking musicians for its upcoming summer concert season of three concerts in Naperville and at Cantigny Park in Wheaton. There are openings for all string players, and selected woodwind, brass and percussion players. Auditions will be held through Friday by appointment. Students seeking host families

The Academic Foundation for International Cultural Exchange, a not-for profit educational foundation, is looking for a community representative and host families for its exchange students, ages 15-18 who speak English. CASA will offer information

Court Appointed Special Advocates, CASA of DuPage County, will hold its next information nights for advocate training at 10 a.m. June 23 at the CASA office, 505 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton in Suite C, third floor; or at 7 p.m. June 26 at the Fox Community Center, 306 Main St., West Chicago.
