Memorial Day weekend signals the traditional start of summer. That means more than just reaching for white shoes to wear with that flowery dress. It's the first weekend when most pools plan to open for the season. In years past, dreary holiday weekend weather held off the start of the swim season. But, if you believe the weatherman, it looks like there's a good chance you'll be able to suit up the family and hit the water park Saturday or Sunday. Here's a look at when DuPage County public swimming pools are scheduled to open.

May 24

• Centennial Beach, 500 W. Jackson Ave., Naperville. (630) 848-5092

• Butterfield Park District pool, 21W730 Butterfield Road, Lombard. Open on weekends and holidays until June 2, when the regular season begins.

• Coral Cove Water Park, 849 Lies Road, Carol Stream. (630) 784-6130

• Sunset Pool, 483 Fairview Ave., Glen Ellyn. (630) 858-7665

• Itasca Park District Water Park, 100 N. Catalpa Ave., Itasca. (630) 773-2257

• Bath & Tennis Club pool, 800 Oak Brook Road, Oak Brook. (630) 368-6440.

• Jefferson Pool, Terrace Street at Harvard Avenue, Villa Park. Open weekends until regular season begins June 5.

• Rice Pool and Water Park, 1777 S. Blanchard Road, Wheaton. (630) 690-4880

• Northside Family Aquatic Center, 1509 N. West St., Wheaton. Open weekends until regular season begins June 5. (630) 653-3345

• The Oasis, Bloomingdale Park District water park, 172 S. Circle Ave. (630) 529-3650. Open for the weekend May 31-June 1. Regular season begins June 7.

• Lufkin Pool, 1000 S. Ardmore, Villa Park. Open May 31 and June 1 until regular season begins June 5. (630) 279-6286

June 2

• Oakbrook Terrace Park District splash pad, 1S325 S. Ardmore Ave. (630) 627-6100

• Lombard's Moran Water Park is closed this season. Residents can utilize facilities in Addison, Butterfiled, Itasca, Villa Park and Hanover Park. Aquatic programs will be conducted in Bensenville.

• Winfield residents can use Coral Cove Water Park at resident rates.
