Dozens of Abraham Lincoln impersonators meet in Alton

ALTON -- Dozens of Abraham Lincoln impersonators, dressed in black suits with stovepipe hats, met in Alton on Saturday at the city's Lincoln-Douglas Square.

About 80 members of the Association of Lincoln Presenters were attending their group's annual conference with this year marking the 150th anniversary of the famous U.S. Senate debates between Lincoln and opponent Stephen Douglas.

Lincoln impersonators came from 22 states. They posed for a group photo before lunch.

Lee Williams of Iowa has been a Lincoln impersonator for 18 years. He says the hobby has taken him all over the United States and overseas.
