Blond, blue-eyed Kristina Savenok is definitely a bombshell, but is she a ditz?
That's how the women on "Beauty and the Geek" are generally portrayed, and Savenok -- who appears on the new season of the CW reality show -- admits to a few "blonde moments" of her own. But the 21-year-old Russian-born Wheaton resident is actually quite smart.
She took AP classes at Wheaton Warrenville South High School and at Wheaton Academy, and she's in college now with plans to go to law school.
Whether she'll put her education to use on the current season of the show, which began last week and airs at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, remains to be seen.
While we were unable to talk to her in person or on the phone (the CW network forbids her from giving media interviews until her role on the show ends), she was able to answer a few questions via e-mail.
Q. What were you like in high school?
A. I have A LOT of cousins, so in high school, my best friends were my family. We were this huge Russian clique. Let's just say high school was one of the funnest times in my life. I was involved in plays because I love theater and I was always in AP classes. I was very good at math and science and history and English. Basically everything (ended sentence with a smiley face).
Q. What school do you attend now, what's your major, and what do you want to do after graduation?
A. I attend DePaul University and I'm double majoring in psychology and business. I plan to attend law school once I graduate and work in commercial real estate.
Q. Do you have a job outside of school?
A. I work for a commercial real estate company outside of school.
Q. What made you decide to audition for "BATG"?
A. My friends actually convinced me to audition because they know I'm very smart but have a lot of blonde moments, so they thought I would be perfect for the show.
Q. Explain your "Daddy's girl" description on the show's Web site.
A. I'm very conservative and am extremely close to my family. I was titled "Daddy's Girl" for that reason. I'm Christian Baptist and during the show I refused to sleep in the same bed as any of the boys and I'm largely Republican and always voiced my views on abortion and other issues (I got into a few arguments with some people).
Q. What's your family's and friends' reaction been so far?
A. They have all been SOO excited! About 20 of us get together and watch it. And my friends all around the world are watching it! They are shocked at some of the things we've had to do already and I keep warning them about things ahead of time so they won't be too shocked!!
