A Carpentersville man was sentenced Thursday to 99 years in prison for molesting two young girls.

Mark Kimbrough, 39, of the 500 block of Elm Ridge Road, was convicted in late August of seven counts of predatory criminal sexual assault.

Kimbrough was arrested in late 2005 and charged with sexually assaulting the girls, who were roughly 13 and 9 years old at the time of the abuse, said Christine Bayer, a Kane County prosecutor.

The abuse took place over a nearly two-year period, said Bayer, with the county's child advocacy center.

"They suffered a lifelong ordeal at the hands of this man," Bayer said.

He will be required to serve about 82 years in prison before he is eligible for parole, Bayer said.

At his jury trial, Kimbrough also was found guilty of eight counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

He also was on probation for a gun conviction when he was arrested on the sex abuse allegations, Bayer said.

Kimbrough has been jailed since his arrest. His attorney was unavailable late Thursday for comment.
