Looking for a job, whether it's your first, fifth or a total career change, is no easy feat. The time, energy and stress involved can make job hunting feel like a full-time job in itself.

It's enough to make you wish for one big room full of potential employers -- a place where you could find out about a multitude of companies and organizations, talk to real live representatives of those places and learn about current job openings.

Wish granted! Job seekers are invited to meet potential employers at the upcoming job fair from noon to 3 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

A link to the registration form and more details are available at the workNet Web site,, or

Employers at the job fair will represent a variety of companies, corporations, staffing companies, the manufacturing industry, organizations and retail companies from throughout northern Cook County.

Job seekers will have the opportunity to gather information from these employers and find out about current openings, hiring criteria, company history and more. And just in case something sounds like a nice fit for you, it wouldn't hurt to have a copy of your resume ready to hand out.

While you're at the library, check out our many resources for learning about various careers, writing a great resume and cover letter, and improving your interview skills. Peruse the 331.1 section of books in the non-fiction area, located on the second floor.

Librarians at the Reference Desk will be happy to help you find the topics you seek. There is a Career/Job Information brochure with Web site listings available at the Reference Desk, as well.

Job fair sponsors include the Illinois workNet Center, Illinois Department of Employment Security, Workforce Board of Northern Cook County, The Employment Hour, the Daily Herald, and the Schaumburg Township District Library.
